Holiday Guide

February half term can be a tricky one. You are missing the excitement of Christmas and the weather is often not on our side. Fear not, you will be able to keep the whole family busy with my half term guide. Keeping reading for some great ideas of things to do.

Special Events and Attractions

The Artrix

Lyngo Theatre will be performing their new show What a Wonderful World around the UK this Spring with BBC children’s television presenter Patrick Lynch. The production is a collaboration with the Lyric Hammersmith and the Lighthouse Poole and has been funded by the Arts Council England. Read more here.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Times: 10.30am – 3pm (doors open at 10am)

Botany Bay

Looking for Half Term Activities? Come along to Botany Bay and get potting! The children can pot their own bedding plant and decorate their pot wrap. Read more here.

British Transport Museum

Throughout the half term from 15 February – 1 March the British Motor Museum is encouraging children to explore the FUTURE.  Themed around the exhibition ‘The Car. The Future. Me.’, the activities will allow children to investigate what the cars of their future might look like through science shows, STEM activity, family trails and tours. Read more here.

Hartlebury Castle

Delve into a world of mythical creatures at Hartlebury Castle! Follow the fairy trail around the Castle, make your own unicorn or dragon bookmark and create a pixie door to take home.

From 15th February up to and including 23rd February

  • Animal Care Time
  • Regular Animal Encounters
  • Colouring Competition
  • Farm Yard Treasure Hunt – Follow the clues around the farm and into the woods and claim your prize when you hand in your answers.
  • Get muddy and build a den in the woods.

Community Winter Picnic – 15 February

Looking for something different to do with your family and friends this half-term? Parkside in Bromsgrove has a cultural surprise for you then!

Saturday 15th of February, will see a cross-community indoor picnic at Parkside. There will be face painting, craft activities and other entertainment – as well as the opportunity for families from different cultures to come together and share food in a relaxed and friendly setting.

The activities will run from 11 am until 3 pm at Parkside, Market Street, with the main picnic and sampling of the food taking place at 12-2 pm.

Come along, bring some food and get to know your neighbours better!”

The event is free and is being hosted by Bromsgrove District Council with partners including the Bromsgrove Library, the European Connections Forum and a number of community organisations active in the area.

Kids Cupcake sessions

Get creative and design your own cupcakes, whether you want to model characters, use silicone moulds, plunger cutters, sprinkles. The choice is yours.

£20 per child.

All materials and equipment provided. Perfect for those creative minds.

Each child will be provided with 6 naked cupcakes to decorate as they wish. All materials and equipment provided.

Craft Workshop – 17th February

Wyre Forest

Brix Lego Craft and Create – 15 February


Thousands of Lego bricks and accessories to build with, plus lots Duplo for the younger builders and dress up costumes (plus some new ones!), for great photo opportunities!

Plenty of favourite mini figures will be ready to be paint, plus there will have plenty of themed crafts and activity trays!

Storytime Special – 15 February

This event is happening on Saturday 15th February from 2.00 to 3.00 pm and places are limited, so please drop into the library or message to book your place. £1 per child, refreshments provided.
