Brrr it’s so cold – I dared venture out for a play date earlier but that’s it.

For those of you not so lucky to be off work or school I though it would be useful to do a snow watch with school and transport news plus any other useful information.

Play and support group closures

Due to adverse weather conditions all fridays Worcestershire health and care trust breastfeeding support groups are cancelled. For breastfeeding support and information please contact the National Breastfeeding helpline 0300 100 0212. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Baby Latte @ the Hive tomorrow is CANCELLED due to the adverse weather conditions. If you need support and your baby is less than 6 weeks old please phone your breastfeeding support worker or midwife. Travel

Birmingham Airport

Flights are operating but many flights have been cancelled including to Ireland and mainland Europe. Check with the airport before traveling.

Buses

Transport Update:
Diamond Buses
Many services are likely to be heavily disrupted due to the current weather conditions, we are trying to stick to planned routes and times where possible. Your patience is very much appreciated, and please take care.

The following services will not be operating 2 March until further notice:
55 70 36 62 47 48 S2 S3 S11 S15 88 30, 28A and 247. The 75 will run but will be a limited service. Stratford services. 229,19,27 also suspended.
NB: All other services (unless listed) are running, however expect delays whilst we get to your stop. Safety first as drivers will be manoeuvring along the icy roads.

Due to extreme weather overnight First Worcester services are still suspended. We are currently running road tests and will update as soon as possible

Trains

West Midlands Railway:

Trains are currently being disrupted on the following routes:

  • Trains between Birmingham New Street and Longbridge / Barnt Green are now able to run but at a significantly reduced level
  • No trains between Hereford and Birmingham New Street
  • A significantly reduced service between Worcester Shrub Hill and Stratford-upon-Avon
  • A significantly reduced service between Birmingham New Street and Lichfield
  • There is currently no service to Alvechurch or Redditch

Chiltern Railways

Trains across the Chiltern Railways network are subject to short notice cancellations or delays of up to 30 minutes.

Please note: No Chiltern Railways services will be able to operate between Oxford and Oxford Parkway today. It is very unlikely that road transport will be available.

A number of Train Operating Companies have issued warnings of service changes, or disruption to your journey.
We strongly advise you check before your travel using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner or Live Departure Boards and allow extra time for your journey

Roads

Update from Worcestershire highways on 02 March:

We’ve been battling conditions all night – please do not travel this morning unless essential – if travelling please take extreme care – drifting snow is still blowing onto roads due to windy conditions

There are 2 RTCs northbound on the M40 from J15 northwards, Entry onto M42 north is closed, 3 RTCs southwards after J15 with lots of lanes closed. Its very windy in parts with patches of ice (updated at 08:00 02 March)

A435, Birmingham Road, towards Coughton and Alcester is CLOSED!! (Updated at 09:00 2nd March)

Libraries

Due to the weather conditions Alvechurch Library will be closed tomorrow and courses cancelled. We will be in contact with any learners booked on courses that were due take place.

No collections in Kidderminster until Monday.

Update from Wychavon Council: Due to the snow and icy conditions NO bin collections will take place today. Apologies for the inconvenience caused, but this cancellation is for your safety. Staff are clearing footpaths instead.
Please leave your bins out and we will collect as soon as it is safe to do so.

A litter pick in Evesham organised by the town council has been cancelled due to the snow. The litter pick for the Great British Spring Clean will have new dates published shortly. It was due to take place on Saturday.
