Christmas in Worcestershire

Is it too early to start saying the “C” word? Probably but these days you sometimes have to act quick to book all the best places. With that in mind I thought I would make a start on my Christmas blog where you can find out about everything Chrismassy in the region and nearby (yay so excited, I love Christmas).

Tickets for The Snowman and The Snowman & the Snowdog are now on sale. There will be three performances on Wednesday 19 December at 12pm, 2.30pm and 7.15pm.

The Snowman At St John Baptist Church, Kidderminster

Orchestra of St John will perform Howard Blake’s The Snowman with
Charlotte Moseley lead violin
Richard Jenkinson conductor and
Kevin Ward (Bromsgrove’s Town Crier) narrator

This wonderfully evocative piece make the perfect Winter treat whatever your age – young or old. How could it be Christmas without the Snowman?

The concert is brought to you by the Orchestra of St John and the Friends of St John’s Church.

Come along early for a selfie with the snowman, for a hot chocolate and to meet the musicians.

Last year’s event was sold out – so book early to avoid disappointment.

Tickets £5 adults, accompanied children FREE.

Free Parking in Wyre Forest after 4pm

Shoppers can take advantage of free parking at all Wyre Forest District Council car parks after 4pm during the festive period.

The ‘free Christmas parking after 4pm’ offer will run from Saturday 17 November 2018 until Sunday 6 January 2019.

Festivities begin less than a week later on Friday 23 November with the first of the district’s Christmas light switch-ons taking place in Stourport. Kidderminster’s lights switch-on (organised by Wyre Forest District Council in partnership with Kidderminster Town Council) will follow on Saturday 24 November and Bewdley’s (organised by Bewdley Town Council) on Saturday 1 December.

The offer applies only to car parks owned by Wyre Forest District Council. The offer is not available at Weaver’s Wharf car park in Kidderminster, which is privately owned.

Signs will be going up at the entrances to all council car parks and will also be displayed at all ticket machines. Motorists – including those using the Just Park app – will not need to pay for parking beyond 4pm during the period.

Enchanted Witley

Witley Court and Gardens. Worcester Road, WR6 6JT

The popular Enchanted event is coming to Witley Court & Gardens for the first time this December!

Make the most of winter evenings with an enchanting experience of light, colour and sound as Witley Court is transformed into an illuminated world. Follow the charming trail to discover our garden in a new light, taking in the magic with everything from fairy lights to a talking tree along the way, and ending up at the dramatic ruins of the Court. Throughout the illuminated trail look out for floating umbrellas and friendly fairies who have made their home among the twinkling lights.


Worcester Cathedral

The Christmas Tree Festival begins on Saturday and runs until 3 January. This year it’s the biggest ever with 100 decorated trees. The event is FREE and open to everyone. You can vote for your favourite tree online from a shortlist of 10 finalists.
